How many players can play the game?

Each board game set comes with pieces for 4 players, which is the optimum number as it gives everyone an even opportunity to participate. It is also feasible to have 3 or 5 players. With less than 3 players though, the conversation may get static. If there are more than 5, not all players may get sufficient airtime.

What is the maximum number of people that can play the game at one go?

Each board game set comes with pieces for 4 players, which is the optimum number as it gives everyone an even opportunity to participate. It is also feasible to have 3 or 5 players. You may have multiple tables with one game per table, and have a facilitator go around the tables. Depending on your objectives, we’ve found that a group size of 24 (6 tables of 4 players) still works well for having meaningful conversations and capturing common insights. We’ve had a large session of 80 players (in 20 tables) and while they still had fun and good conversations going, it was less ideal in terms of capturing depth of insights around the room.

Does each group need a facilitator?

It depends on the objectives and setting of the board game session. With small group coaching, it is often beneficial to have a facilitator per group. In a playshop/workshop setting for working professionals, it may not be necessary. If the players are students, it is recommended to have one facilitator per group, or a facilitator to manage two groups at a time, to aid the flow of conversations.

Are there any specific groupings that are more ideal?

It depends on your objectives. If you want to strengthen team relationships, then you can group team members together at each board set. If you want to foster inter departmental relationships, then you may want to have a mix of people from different departments at each board set.

Does each group need a facilitator?

No. We’ve had positive feedback from people as young as 17 years old to 60+ years old, across multiple countries, cultures and professions.

Where can I find out more on how to be a certified facilitator?

What is the difference between the Student or the Professional edition?

The game board and mechanics are the same. The student edition is designed for students from the age of 15 to about 20 (before working). The questions and tasks on the cards are more related to school, have shorter time frames, and also more projection questions (that will feel less intimidating). The professional edition is designed for working professionals with some understanding of the working world – it does not matter if the player is just starting work or at a senior level as each person will answer based on their context.
